Historical Novel Society
New York City Chapter
About Us

Who: We’re a North American chapter of the Historical Novel Society based in the UK. Founded in 2013, we’re a community of historical fiction lovers. Our members include established and yet-to-be published authors, readers, and industry professionals. We originally represented the New York City region with about 35 members, but during COVID-19 we expanded online and now have nearly 500 members around the world.

What: For writers, we provide programming to help improve their craft and business skills and offer opportunities to reach new readers. For readers, we offer opportunities to meet and hear from their favorite authors and discover new ones. Check out our past programs in video and audio to see what we provide our members.

Where/When: We have programs that include live meet-ups and online programming scheduled throughout the year with brief summer breaks. Live events usually take place at the Jefferson Market Library in Manhattan and are sometimes recorded. Online events are always recorded and available to members.

How much? Nothing! We charge no dues and are an all-volunteer organization. We welcome anyone to our community who wishes to share our love of historical fiction. We also have opportunities for members who wish to help in programming, promotions, member outreach, and one-time projects. Please Contact Us if you wish to give back.
